International Women’s Day is dedicated to honoring the economical, cultural, political, and social achievements of women across the globe. Today, we take the opportunity to reflect on historic progress, create measures for continued change, and plan for future generations. Working towards a shared goal is set though an annual theme. For 2021 the theme is #choosetochallenge.
History serves as a reminder for how challenges have become vehicles for growth and advancement. For centuries, women have challenged norms, circumstances and traditions to ultimately forge pathways of change. As a women owned business, we highlight women founders, leaders, and innovators whose determination paved the way for others to follow.
16 Legendary Women Entrepreneurs
More than 11 million businesses are owned by women, generating 1.7 trillion dollars in sales, employing over 9 million people (as of 2019).1 Women of color account for 50% of these businesses and 4.2% of all women owned firms have revenue exceeding 1 million dollars annually, according to a report from National Association of Women Business Owners.2 Of the businesses owned and operated by women, 99.9% are small businesses having fewer than 500 employees. 3
